I decided to not race the 2011 Supermoto Season so that I could concentrate on learning to ride the NSR50 and proper roadracing technique. I attended several Utah Sportbike Asdsociation Advanced Rider Training courses held at Miller Motorsports Park. By the end of the summer I had the bike and the technique sorted out. The 2012 season was up in the air until Dana Wilson from 171 Racing called and offered a Honda RS125 for me to ride in 2012 if I could get a race license and clearance from the Club to race. Apex Trackdays stepped up and provided me some tracktime to shake the bike down. Wow, what a huge jump it was to go from a 50 cc mini on a go kart track to a proper roadracing bike on the big track at Miller. I was a little scared at first but Brian Childree worked with me all day. By the end of the 3rd session I was passing adults on 600 and 1000cc bikes. I passed my license test and am now the youngest licensed racer in the Utah Sportbike Associations history. I will be racing several classes this season in the Masters of the Mountains Series. |
